This year in a word.
I chose calm.
I got epic. And chaotic.
My husband chose slower.
He says he got busy, change, eventful.
And relentless.
Needless to say, we're not choosing words this year.
We're making choices instead.
We're making choices instead.
I'm choosing fun. More of it. {Last week I ran under the sprinklers with miss three. I was fully clothed, she was in her pyjamas. A spontaneous decision. That was fun.}
I'm choosing to listen more than I talk. Talking comes very naturally to me {hello, deep and meaningful conversation in five minutes with a stranger in the checkout line in Woolies}. And I wish for listening to be the same.
I'm choosing to remember this year's lessons. And to let go of what I can't control.
I'm choosing to go slowly. {More often}. In the hope it will ground me at times when I feel stressed and life becomes fast.
I'm choosing to remember how far I've come.
And I'm choosing to give thanks.

What will you choose {wish, hope, dream} for your new year?
What will you choose {wish, hope, dream} for your new year?
Thats wise to not put a word on it, to define the coming year! But to let your actions speak louder! Listening is good and having fun, well that is the best!
ReplyDeleteSuch a beautiful post as always! I hope 2013 is a wonderful year for you! xxx
Thanks Jane! Wishing you an amazing new year xx
DeleteI read so many of your posts (all of them I think) and I go away to think about them and am sure I've replied and then I go back and look sometimes (like now) and there's nothing there. (its all in my head)
ReplyDeleteKnow that I've loved your lessons, pondered on your reflections, reflected on your musings and questioned my own choices in light of your thoughts.
I choose slow too...and grateful
x
Thank you Ally xx The most beautiful compliment! I'm honored that you're reading, and commenting too xx

ReplyDeleteThank you Jen. I like choices better than resolutions! Hope 2013 is wonderful for you also xx
DeleteLovely photo and words of wisdom also. I trust 2013 will be even better than you hope.
ReplyDeleteSounds perfect, choosing to be grateful is also a good place to start.
ReplyDeleteLovely post Elisa. I'm wishing for a happier new year. One of my resolutions is to spend less time sitting at the computer, I've used it as a get away, and really need to spend more quality time with my girls. Have a Happy New Year!! xxJulie
ReplyDeleteThere is nothing that reminds me of happy childhood memories more than seeing children run beneath the sprinklers!! May 2013 be full of sprinklers for you xx
ReplyDeleteLovely words Elisa..there are so many things beyond our control..I won't have specific goals as such this year, just to stay focussed on my values and what's important, and I think I'll take a leaf out of your book with fun, listening & going slow :) Happy New Year to you and your family:)
ReplyDeleteI'm choosing more fun too, to lighten up a bit more and not let things weigh me down so much. A lovely sentiment for the new year Elisa.
ReplyDeleteI'm choosing simple and I very much like how you have phrased your resolutions, Elisa. You are a deep and sensitive thinker and I'm pretty sure that's all you need for a really great year. x
ReplyDeleteI love idea of accepting and choosing. May your year be filled with lots of fun!
ReplyDeleteWhat a great choice. I'm sure the year will be wonderful as you make beautiful, thoughtful choices. x
