The end is near

I'm not one to want life to rush on by past me. Quite the opposite, actually. I'm all for soaking up moments and scents and stills of life {as I know it}.

I like moments, the moment {this very one} and pondering and breathing fully. Meditating, and saluting the sun in the morning. Laughing and listening {which requires reminding myself not to talk}.

This week I've lapped up moments, but I've let my head and heart wander ahead in time too. And I've seen {and felt} that the end is near {so so close} in so many respects. And my feelings have been a mixture of relief, excitement, anxiety and gratitude, too.

It was mostly excitement {and a little anxiety} as I waited for my little sister {at the end of her aid trip to Malawi, Africa} to return home on Wednesday night. But gratitude too. Grateful for her and the difference she {and so many others} has made. I sometimes wonder if she realises how big and beautiful what she's done really is. I'm grateful I can support her, and so so grateful to have her home too.

When my little girl spiked a fever on Monday, I didn't panic {my normal response} but trusted her body {and homeopathics} and offered her loads of love {and water} and readily gave the hundred or so "cuddles like a baby" she was requesting on the couch. She slept in our arms in our bed for the night, but at midnight when I slipped out of bed to get a glass of water I was grateful to hear little feet pitter-pattering along behind me. Even more grateful when I saw her big smile, and the "I love you Mummy" that went with it. She was feeling better, the end of this bug near.

This week I've navigated life around boxes, packed our life's things into boxes and lived out of boxes too. We're pretty much packed and ready to move {the end is near}. And I'm looking forward to the unpacking, because with that comes a new place, a fresh start and no packing, which means more time being just us {and just being}.

xx

{*this image captured on my Iphone was my favourite moment of the week, stopping with my girls to watch the calm beach water, so so still and the colour matched the sky.}

  8. I think it's possible to appreciate the moment and look forward to the future at the same time, even though it is a bit of a contradiction. And when you have a move ahead of you, looking forward to it is a whole lot better than dreading it (my normal reaction). Good luck with it!

  9. Oh what a beautiful post Elisa, you are such a calming influence to read, love it. So glad your little girl is ok now, such a sweet story about her following you to tell you she loved you. I still snuggle my two year old to sleep and allow my four year old to go to sleep next to us... I LOVE those moments.
    Good luck with the move, always exciting times when you're bound for something new. Look forward to reading all about it on the other side xo
    P.S. Thank you so much for your lovely support of my new venture, means a great deal to me xo
