You turn my world upside down

My little miss three has been watching Mamma Mia the movie. Part of it almost every day for weeks now.
And it’s the most welcome change after a year of her love for everything Dora {and that voice}.

And Mamma Mia {or Honey, Honey as she likes to call it} is “the best show” because it lets us dance, sing and be princesses. Watching it with her is like a dancing and laughing workout.

Other than “honey, honey lalala hmmmm lala” which gets sung a thousand times a day, I really didn’t think she’d picked up any words or phrases, rather was just loving all that singing, dancing and choreography {as our princess always has}.
Until last week. Lying in bed resting together after a long walk and visit to the park, we were both practising breathing softly, when my little miss put her hands on my face, drew me closer and said, “Mummy, you turn my world upside down. I love you.”

I burst into a smile, recognising those words from the movie. And promptly telling her she turned my world upside down and around and around too. All the time. And that I love her {forever}.
But I’ve kept thinking how fitting those words are. For me.

Motherhood {and this little one who first gave me the gift of being a mum} really has turned my world upside down. And inside out. Often, being her mum {learning, loving, growing, exploring with her} makes me dizzy {in the best way}.

Goodness, I love her. And her words.

All those little things she says {and the way her eyes express them}, I can’t help but try to preserve these moments forever.
I’ve spent the past week trying actually. Watching her, witnessing her, loving her, listening, playing. Trying to lock it all away in the film of my memory.

Most days time doesn’t feel like its moving fast, but it does feel like she’s growing so much {and so quickly} in each moment of each day.
xx

{Yesterday I bought a journal so I can record all the little things my little miss three says. Just so I don't forget. I hope one day she will read back through it and be reminded of all the love, fun, words and emotions we share. The memories we made together xx}
Do you keep a journal of words and memories? Those little memories that mean the world in an instant, but overtime could so easily be forgotten... x

It's morning

Since January 1, my three year old has been amazed every time she walks into the kitchen and sees light filtering through the windows.

"Look Mum! Wow, the light! It's morning!!"

Whether there be sunshine or an overcast sky, she sees the light of a new day. And wants to celebrate it.

I love that the lessons I most need often come from my little girl.

She has reminded me of a beautiful affirmation I used to begin my days with: Today is a wonder-filled day.

I said it silently, letting the words roll around in my head the moment I woke. Repeating them, and always thinking them with gratitude. Giving thanks for a new day, for the wonder that would be coming our way.

Somehow, slowly, I let it go. But I know slowly {with gentle practice} it will come back to being a natural and effortless part of my morning. Starting today.

xx

Do you have a morning affirmation? And what are you most grateful for today?

In my little girl's eyes

Motherhood is good for my ego. There you go, I've said it.

I've wanted to say it for ages. But the ego! With all my meditation and better health focus, I should be steering clear of my ego, breaking away from it, right?

But my babies are doing such a good job of boosting this mama up!

Because in my little girl's eyes, nobody* compares to me...

In my little girl's eyes, I've got the moves on the {Hi-5} dance floor {in truth, I still can't tell my left from right, but spinning, twists and turns will hide that from a toddler, and tone your body at the same time!}

In my little girl's eyes, my cuddles are the most amazing and essential for sleep {particularly the under the covers, let-me-strangle-you-mum-in-the-name-of-a-hug version}.

In my little girl's eyes, I am hilariously funny {every single one of my jokes ends in side-splitting, on-the-floor laughter. I'm that good!}

In my little girl's eyes, I can sing like no other {This is true, but I also am most-definitely tone deaf, and I'm thinking perhaps it's genetic?}

In my little girl's eyes, holding my hand means safe and comfort and love all in one {I know this because I see it in her smiling cherub face looking up at me}.

In my little girl's eyes, I'm always wanted {for reading, playing, rolling, jumping, sliding, running, walking, skipping, building towers, trying on my high heels, pouring milk and sharing hummus and crackers - every single one, all the time}.

Motherhood is boosting my ego - I'm so much fun to be around, so easy to love, absolutely hilarious, the best friend ever, brilliant at so many hard-to-do {for a toddler} things. And I'm wanted at all times {because I'm every one of these}.

This week I got a little mama cranky pants at being wanted for everything all the time. And I should be cherishing it. Every little part of it.

I sat back and sat still {once my babies were asleep} and realised that while I'm all these things now, I most definitely won't be all these forever - not in my little girl's eyes. And I know when the time comes that will crush me, and this ego will land back down on the ground {most likely with a thud}.

So for now, I'm grateful for a bolstered ego, and a little girl who thinks I'm all that, and more!

So, how's your ego travelling? And what are you grateful for this week?
